    Riyadh unveils $2.1bn road expansion with six major projects

    Riyadh is pressing in advance with a significant growth of its transport infrastructure, as the Royal Payment for Riyadh City introduced a brand-new bundle of roadway growth jobs worth more than SR 8 bn ($ 2 13 bn), focused on reducing congestion, boosting connectivity and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.

    The statement notes the launch of Plan 3 of the Riyadh Key and Ring Road Axes Growth Program, a front runner initiative designed to enhance movement throughout the Saudi capital and enhance its position as a regional hub for lasting transport and logistics services.

    According to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), Package 3 consists of 6 major tasks set up for conclusion within 3 to four years.

    Riyadh roadway projects

    • Jeddah Roadway Advancement Project (29 km): The scheme consists of 14 bridges and five major lanes, broadening roadway corridors to fit climbing everyday web traffic quantities. As soon as completed, the route will have a capacity of as much as 353, 000 automobiles daily
    • Taif Roadway Development Job (15 kilometres): Designed to boost traffic flow between Riyadh’s southern and western areas and the city centre, the project includes four bridges, 4 primary lanes and 2 tunnels, with ability for approximately 200, 000 lorries per day
    • Thumamah Road Advancement Project– Eastern Section (8 kilometres): This section will consist of three bridges and three passages, connecting key flexibility axes across north and eastern Riyadh and sustaining web traffic quantities of up to 200, 000 automobiles daily
    • King Abdulaziz Roadway Growth Project– North Section (4 7 kilometres): The job will broaden network capacity and boost efficiency with 4 bridges, 4 main lanes and one passage, making it possible for website traffic capacity of up to 450, 000 lorries each day
    • Othman container Affan Roadway Growth Job– Northern Section (4 3 km): With 7 bridges and comprehensive upgrades, the task will certainly boost web traffic flow across north Riyadh and sustain up to 500, 000 automobiles daily
    • Engineering Enhancements for Congested Locations– Phase II: Targeting 8 areas across Riyadh’s road network, this stage will apply advanced design remedies to decrease blockage and boost intersection performance, enhancing web traffic capability by 40– 60 percent

    Web traffic strategy

    RCRC stated it has prepared a detailed traffic diversion plan, coordinated with pertinent city authorities, to reduce momentary effect on website traffic flow and surrounding communities and ensure nonstop mobility during construction.

    The programme traces back to February 2020, when Mohammed container Salman container Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCRC Board of Directors, routed the advancement of Riyadh’s significant road axes as part of a broader change of the resources.

    Adhering to that directive, RCRC released Plan 1 in August 2024, consisting of four tasks with a mixed value of SR 13 bn ($ 3 46 bn), and Bundle 2 in February 2025, which included eight projects exceeding SR 8 bn ($ 2 13 bn).

    The commission claimed added stages of the Riyadh Key and Ring Roadway Axes Growth Program will be revealed eventually, as the city continues to scale up infrastructure financial investment in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030
